1600 Vyssotsky

1600 Vyssotsky, provisional designation 1947 UC, is a reddish asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, about 8 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on October 22, 1947 by American astronomer Carl Wirtanen at Lick Observatory on the summit of Mount Hamilton, California.〔
The asteroid is a member of the Hungaria family, that form the last, innermost dense concentration of asteroids in the Solar System. Contrary to most members of this family, ''Vyssotsky'' has a very rare A-type spectra. It orbits the Sun at a distance of 1.8–1.9 AU once every two and a half years (918 days). Its orbit is of low-eccentricity and heavily tilted towards the plane of the ecliptic. Its geometric albedo lies between 0.03 and 0.06.〔〔〔
Photometric observations at the Palmer Divide Observatory ''(see video in )'' in the U.S. state of Colorado in 1999 were used to build a light curve for this object. The asteroid displayed a rotation period of hours and a brightness variation of in magnitude.〔 A repeated observation in 2014 gave a period of hours.〔
It was named in honor of Russian–American astronomer Alexander Vyssotsky (1888–1973) who joined the faculty of the University of Virginia in 1923 and stayed at the McCormick Observatory on Mount Jefferson, Virginia, for 35 years. He was active in the fields of photometry, astrometry and spectral classification.〔
